Former PS Joins KenGen Board and Two Others

Former Principal Secretary Dr. (Eng) John Kipngetich Mosonik has been elected to join the board as a new director. According to a notice on Friday, November 5, 2025, Mosonik, along with two others, was confirmed as a director after winning board elections.

“The election for three vacancies on the Board of Directors of KenGen was held by a poll on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the 73rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Company, held virtually via electronic means,” the statement read.

He is a non-executive director at Safaricom, having been appointed on August 23, 2023.

Previously, Mosonik served as the Chief Administrative Secretary at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mining during the tenure of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.

KenGen’s New Board Appointments

Image Registrars Limited, appointed as the scrutineer and returning officers for the elections, delivered the results to the Company Secretary, who announced them to other members of the company.

Apart from Mosonik, KenGen also appointed Mr. William Rahedi and Ms. Rebecca Peiyai Ntalamia Kudate to the board of directors.

William Rahedi holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Accounting) from the United States International University (USIU) and a Master of Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Nairobi.

He is an experienced independent business and finance consultant with over 40 years of multi-disciplinary expertise in business investment advisory, banking, finance, treasury management, loan negotiations and agreements, and financial and business restructuring.

He is currently the Chairman of Spire Bank Kenya Limited and a Director of Nairobi Hospice.

Dr. Mosonik’s Profile: Educational Background

Mosonik holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and Telecommunications from the University of Nairobi.

He also holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Strategic Leadership from Northcentral University (USA) and a PhD in Business Administration (Strategic Management) from Moi University, Kenya.

Additionally, he holds postgraduate degrees in Digital Transformation, Strategic Focus, Finance, and Business Administration from internationally recognized universities.

Career Background

Dr. (Eng.) John Kipngetich Mosonik is a Non-Executive Director on the KenGen Board, appointed on 23rd August 2023.

He has 35 years of executive experience spanning both the public and private sectors of administration.

From 2018 to 2022, he served as Principal Secretary in the State Department for Infrastructure and as Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Mining.

Furthermore, he is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (FIEK) and a registered member of the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
