Finidi confident as Rivers United face Pyramids FC in CAF Champions League

Rivers United head coach Finidi George insists his side are fully prepared for their CAF Champions League group stage opener against Egyptian giants Pyramids FC.

The Pride of Rivers will battle the defending champions today (Saturday) at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo, a venue where the home side are heavily favoured to secure all three points.

Despite the odds, Finidi believes his team can rise to the occasion.

“We are looking forward to an interesting game against the defending champions,” the former Super Eagles winger said in his pre-match comments.

“It is going to be a good game, the atmosphere is good, and we are looking forward to the game.”

Rivers United enter the encounter hoping to make a strong statement in Group B, which also features RS Berkane of Morocco and Zambia’s Power Dynamos—both of whom meet in the group’s other fixture.

With Finidi expressing confidence and the squad settled in Cairo, Rivers United will aim to begin their campaign on a positive note against one of Africa’s toughest opponents.
