The Federal Government has raised concern over possible flooding in 15 states and 69 locations across Nigeria.

The government warned that heavy rainfall between September 24 and September 28, 2025, may cause destruction in several areas.

The warning came through the National Flood Early Warning Centre under the Ministry of Environment in a statement signed by the Director of Erosion, Flood and Coastal Zone Management Department, Usman Abdullahi Bokani.

According to the Ministry, the alert is part of regular early-warning actions designed to reduce casualties and damage during the rainy season.

The states and communities at risk include Farkumo, Jimeta, Mayo-Belwa, Wuro Bokki and Yola in Adamawa; Ogbakuba in Anambra; Amassoma, Ikpidama, Kalama, Kolokuma/Opokuma, Odi, Odoni, Ogbia, Oloibiri, Oporoma, Otouke, Peremabiri, Sagbama and Yenagoa in Bayelsa; Damasak in Borno; Abigborodo, Aboh, Abraka, Agbor, Asaba, Forcados, Koko, Okoloba, Okpo-Krika, Patani, Sapele, Ughelli, Warri, Umugboma, Umukwata and Umuchi-Utchi in Delta; Benin City and Okada in Edo; Egbema and Oguta in Imo; Bebeji, Gezawa, Gwarzo, Kano, Karaye, Tudun-Wada and Wudil in Kano; Jibia in Katsina; Akure, Ikare and Ita-Ogbolu in Ondo; Iseyin and Oyo in Oyo; Ahoada and Itu in Rivers; Isa and Shagari in Sokoto; Bandawa, Gembu, Ngaruwa and Serti in Taraba; and Anka, Bungudu, Bukuyum, Gummi, Gusau, Kaura Namoda, Maradun and Shinkafi in Zamfara.
