Putting in an effort towards something means being focused, determined and dedicated. When we put in the effort, we are hopeful that the outcome will be what we want.

Putting effort is in our hands, but not the outcome. When the outcome isn't what we desire, we feel disappointed and feel our time, energy and effort all have gone waste. We don't realise the lessons, the skills and the strengths the lesson gained out of it.

Don't lose heart when you have tried hard enough. When you try something else, you will find that your previous effort taught you something that made you succeed.
