The Olu of Warri Kingdom, HRM Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, has said that the senatorial candidate of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), Commodore Omatseye Nesiama (rtd) who is popularly known as the Commodore of Hope, is "the first politician to be attended to at Ode-Itsekiri, the ancestral home of the Itsekiri".

The reverred monarch made the pronouncement on Friday, November 4, 2022 in the Royal Palace at Ode-Itsekiri, also known as 'Big Warri', when the Commodore of Hope and two others paid a courtesy call on His Royal Majesty to seek for his prayers and blessings ahead of the 2023 general elections.

According to the reverred monarch, he said: "l have received many politicians at my palace in Warri, but this is a new precedence, receiving the Commodore of Hope at the traditional Palace in Ode-Itsekiri.

"We did not even follow precedence set here in attending to you. You're the first politician to be attended to at Ode-Itsekiri, the ancestral home of the Itsekiri. We received other candidates in Warri. There's something here, but whatever good there is, may it get to you," His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III prayed.

The King also prayed that the people of Delta South Senatorial District receive the message of hope which the former Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence is preaching to change the narratives in the constituency.

Reacting in excitement to His Majesty's special privilege accorded him and his team, the Commodore of Hope said he believed it was a divine arrangement as he prayed for a fruitful

He said: "I am delighted to have been received in the Palace, the ancestral home of our people. I count it a great privilege, very lucky also. I stand to be corrected that I'm the very first candidate of a political party to be received in this palace in Ode-Itsekiri. It's not by accident, but by divine arrangements and I pray that my mission here will be fruitful like my Party's (NNPP) symbol indicates. My Party's symbol is a basket of fruit and foodstuffs inside the map of Nigeria.

"This simply means that Nigerians should be able to have food to eat. If they have food to eat then, they cannot be used for missions that are not gainful, missions that are inimical to the society and the people, missions that are inimical to the kingdom's growth," he added.

Commodore Nesiama who said that he was not at the palace to malign his opponents or anybody, as his consultations and campaigns were issue-based through the preaching of his message of Hope and possibility for things to change, added that he had some gotten great measures of endorsements during his consultations from amongst the ljaws, the lsokos, the Itsekiris, the Urhobos, and other settlers within the constituencies making up the Delta South Senatorial district.

The Commodore of Hope called on the people of Delta South not to miss the golden opportunity that the 2023 general elections offered them to elect credible candidates to represent them at the national level and at the state house of assembly that will offer quality representation, or else the people would pay dearly for it.

"According to Brutus in the play Julius Caesar by Shakespeare, he said and I quote: 'There is a tide in the affairs of men which when taken at the flood leads to fortune'. The tide is flooding now. The Itsekiri people are at the helm. Others are waiting for the move we'll make to establish the direction to go. We must take advantage of this flood tide. If we miss the tide and decide to go with the ebb, it will be very challenging and providence will not forgive us.

"So, I am here to respectfully request to our people to give good consideration to whoever is going to represent us at the national level and at the state house of assembly. There should be no sentiment here, because whatever step we take wrong now will affect us for a very long time.

"Today we have a King, Ogiame Atuwatse lll, who himself has brought quality to royalty. We deserve to have quality also brought into legislation. If we have a non-complimentary legislative representative, the work done so far by our Father may be nought. I pray it doesn't go that direction. It need to be complimented with an equally good representative at the state houses of assembly and the national assembly.

"We need someone who will stand at the legislative chambers and speak and we will be proud that such a person is representing us. We need someone when he is speaking that we will be glad that we ever contributed to the person's emergence. God forbid that someone emerges and our contributions are not evidently seen in it. That would be disastrous. I pray it doesn't get to that level," he prayed.
