Court Restrains APC From Enforcing Suspension Of Ex-Reps Member Eyiboh

The Akwa Ibom State High Court sitting in Oruk Anam Local Government Area Judicial Division has restrained the All Progressives Congress (APC) from enforcing the alleged suspension of Mr. Eseme Eyiboh, a former member of the House of Representatives for Eket/Esit Eket/Onna/Ibeno Federal Constituency, pending the hearing and determination of a substantive motion before the court.

Eyiboh, who is currently a senior aide to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, was suspended by the APC executive in his ward in Esit Eket over his stance on representation for the Eket federal constituency in the 2027 general elections, a position reportedly opposed by some constituents over zoning concerns.

In a suit filed on his behalf by Prophet Edet Ben, Eyiboh challenged the suspension and sought judicial intervention to halt its implementation.

Delivering an interim order, Justice Nkereuwem Obot granted a stay of execution of the suspension issued against Eyiboh on April 22, 2026.

The court directed the APC not to give effect to the suspension or any related publication pending the determination of the motion on notice.

The matter was adjourned to June 22, 2026, for further hearing.
