Bryan Danielson shuts down talk of Brie Bella returning for a singles run

It was just a couple weeks ago when WWE Hall of Fame wrestler Brie Bella revealed that one of her birthday wishes she hopes will come true over the next 12 months is a return to pro wrestling. Brie’s preference is clearly to wrestle alongside her twin sister Nikki, but she seemingly left the door open for a singles run. As a result, speculation ran wild about Brie’s in-ring comeback potentially taking place in AEW.

In a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, AEW commentator Bryan Danielson shut down the idea of his wife returning to do singles matches. He said Brie is open to a return, but only if she’s doing it with Nikki.

“Yeah, only in certain contexts. She doesn’t want to come back and do a singles run, or anything like that. If she comes back, she would want to do it with Nicole.”

Danielson mentioned that part of Brie’s motivation to wrestle again is because she wants their children to see her as more than “just a mom.”

“I think there’s something in her too, and I can appreciate this, because our kids see her as just a mom. Just a mom…as if that isn’t the hardest job in the world! And so, part of her, I think, has a desire to have the kids see her in that light too.”

As WWE’s all women’s Evolution 2 event was approaching this summer, Brie publicly stated that WWE never called her about a return, even with Nikki in the midst of her own comeback run there. Brie later stated that her husband’s job with AEW is a “roadblock” to her WWE return, and she wishes WWE didn’t feel that way.
