Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed Defects from PDP to APM, Cites Internal Crisis

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), attributing his decision to unresolved internal crises within the opposition party.

The governor, popularly known as Bala Kaura, announced his defection in a statement, noting that while his loyalty to the PDP remains, prevailing challenges within the party necessitated his exit.

“The PDP is still in our hearts, but we were compelled to defect due to the party’s internal crises,” he said.

Mohammed’s move marks a significant political development ahead of evolving alignments within Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly as parties continue to reposition in the lead-up to future elections.

The APM, often identified by its cassava symbol, is expected to gain momentum in Bauchi State following the governor’s defection, though reactions from PDP leadership and other stakeholders are yet to be officially disclosed.
