In an interview on The Legacy Series, Bode George, a retired Commodore in the Nigerian Navy, stated that he witnessed advanced surveillance technology during his training in the United States

George said that after joining the Nigerian Navy, he attended a training program at a Naval War College in the USA in 1986. He said he and other members of his class were taken to a naval station in Maine where he was shown live satellite view of Tinubu Square in Lagos Island.
