As ceasefire takes effect, Lebanon's economy is shattered by war

A ceasefire deal between Israel and Hezbollah, brokered by the US and France, went into effect this Wednesday, paving the way for the more than 1.2 million Lebanese citizens displaced by war to return home. More than a year of cross-border fighting had cost Lebanon an estimated $8.5 billion in physical damage and economic losses by late October.
