Arsenal should have beaten Man City – Oliseh

Former Super Eagles captain Sunday Oliseh has expressed his disappointment with Arsenal’s failure to defeat Manchester City in Sunday’s Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium.

The encounter ended 1-1 with Erling Haaland putting City ahead in the ninth minute before Gabriel Martinelli rescued a point for the Gunners with a dramatic equaliser in the 93rd minute.

Reacting on X, Oliseh criticised Arsenal for not making the most of their chances against what he described as a subdued City performance.

“I am shocked Arsenal did not beat Man City today! This is, I believe, one of the weakest performances put up by Man City,” Oliseh wrote.

The former Nigeria midfielder noted that the introduction of Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka gave Arsenal greater control but lamented their lack of cutting edge in front of goal.

“Eze and Saka’s introduction gave Arsenal a better grip of the game, if only Arsenal could better combine to strike at goal more. Sadly, two points lost in my opinion, but then, it could have been worse!” he added.

The result sees Arsenal climb to second place in the table, five points behind leaders Liverpool, while City remain ninth, eight points off the pace.
