Akwa United Football Club (AUFC) are firmly on course for a swift return to the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), according to Chairman Mr. Joseph Eno.

Speaking to sports journalists at the CampGee Hotel and Resort, Uyo, Mr. Eno expressed strong confidence in the team’s ability to maintain their leading position in the Nigerian National League (NNL).

The “State darling team” currently sits two points clear at the top of Conference B as the first half of the season concludes.

Mr. Eno attributed this success to robust support from the government, enthusiastic fans, and dedicated stakeholders, all of whom are committed to sustaining the club’s winning momentum.

Alongside other team managers, the Chairman reiterated their unwavering commitment to fulfilling Governor Pastor Umo Eno’s mandate of securing immediate promotion back to the NPFL.

He also extended gratitude to principal partner and sponsor, Ibom Air, for their crucial logistical and morale-boosting contributions to the players.Mr. Eno reflected on the significant rebuilding effort undertaken after the team’s relegation last season.

“Our journey for this season started when this current management came into office during the 3rd week of August 2025,” he recalled. “95 percent of old players left for greener pastures. So we started building a new team from the scratch. Recruitment of new players commenced immediately. By end of September, we had concluded players selection and recruitment and started full pre-season preparations.

“The rigorous pre-season training has evidently paid dividends. After 9 matches, we lost 2, draw 1 and won 6, leaving us 2 points clear at the top of Conference B,”

Mr. Eno proudly stated. With challenges largely overcome, the club is poised to continue its ascent and maintain its winning form as the second phase of the league commences.
