A few years ago, Kia made the bold decision to replace its well-known Optima sedan with the K5, the name used for the company's mid-size sedan in global markets. Throwing away brand equity was a questionable move, but Kia believes it was the right one, which is why the Korean automaker replaced the smaller Forte with the K4 just a few years later. The K4 was initially offered as a sedan only for the 2025 model year, but for 2026, Kia introduces a hot new hatchback model available with naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines.
