Yobe Court Sentences 22-Year-Old Man to 12 Years in Prison for R£pe of Min0r

A Magistrate Court in Injiyaji, located in Damaturu, Yobe State, has sentenced a 22-year-old man, Rabilu Sani, to 12 years imprisonment for the r£pe of a 4-year-old girl.

The incident, which occurred in November last year, involved the accused reportedly luring the young victim into a room where the assault took place.

Rabilu Sani was arrested on November 9, 2025, and formally charged to court following the conclusion of a police investigation.

Delivering judgment, the presiding judge of Magistrate Court 1 confirmed that the prosecution had successfully proven the case beyond reasonable doubt.

The court subsequently convicted Rabilu Sani and sentenced him to twelve years imprisonment without the option of a fine.

The court also noted that further medical examinations conducted during the investigation confirmed that Rabilu Sani is not infected with HIV.

The Yobe State Government played a significant role in pursuing justice for the victim. Under the leadership of the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Ya Jalo Badama, efforts were intensified to ensure the case was diligently prosecuted after months of legal proceedings.
