NSCDC Arrests Six For Vandalising Electricity Equipment In Kano

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano Command, has arrested six suspects linked to the vandalism and theft of electricity equipment in Hayin Da’e, Hotoro, Tarauni Local Government Area.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, confirmed this in a statement released on Tuesday.

Abdullahi stated that the suspects were arrested following credible intelligence provided by local vigilante members in the area.

“The suspects have been apprehended by NSCDC with vandalised transformer cables believed to have been removed from a transformer at midnight in the area,” he said.

Abdullahi identified the suspected vandals as Muhammad Yusuf, 18; Muhammad Sani Adamu, 19; Umar Musa, 19; Ahmed Auwal, 20; Muhd Yusuf, 28; and Usman Ali, 19, all of whom are residents of the area.

He stated that preliminary investigations by the Corps indicated the suspects had been terrorising residents of Hayin Da’e, Farawa Kwanar Yashi, and Hotoro Eastern Bypass through burglary, theft, and vandalism of electricity installations.

“The corps has since launched an investigation with a view to making further arrests associated with the crime, with confessional statements already obtained from the suspects,” he said.

Abdullahi added that the suspects would be arraigned in court once the ongoing investigation is completed.

“The NSCDC Kano command under the able leadership of Commandant Shafi’u Abdulmumini intensifies surveillance and patrols in the state aimed at ridding Kano of vandals and criminal elements,” he added.
