NXT was supposed to air on the CW tonight from Center Stage in Atlanta, but due to logistical issues will be broadcasting from the Performance Center in Orlando. Four title matches are on the docket, including defenses from Ethan Page and Jacy Jayne. Plus, Keanu Carver gets turned loose in in-ring action and Blake Monroe begins her pursuit of the Women’s Speed Title.

Sol Searching For Gold

Taking a backseat over the past few weeks to the drama between Sol Ruca and her partner, Zaria has been the former’s pursuit of the NXT Women’s Championship. In a likely attempt to drive a wedge between ZaRuca, reigning champ Jacy Jayne essentially named Sol her biggest competition a few weeks ago. This led to a tag team match two weeks ago against the WrenQCC that saw Ruca earn the pinfall, officially earning her the #1 contendership.

Last week on NXT, Jacy, flanked by her Fatal Influence comrades ran down ZaRuca and questioned their friendship, which, of course, drew Sol down to the ring. As a 3-on-1 attack ensued, Zaria ran down and had some of us thinking briefly that she was there to make it a 4-on-1. She ended up spearing Fallon Henley out of her cowgirl boots, sending the message that despite all the tension these last few months, her loyalty still lies with Sol.

This week, Sol gets her long-awaited shot at the NXT Women’s Championship and Fatal Influence will undoubtedly play the numbers game. Can Ruca count on Zaria to have her back and allow her to overcome the odds? Or win, lose, or draw, will this finally be the week that Zaria snaps on her long-time best friend and tag partner?

All-Ego’s All-Time Reign Continues

Ethan Page made history last week, ensuring not only that his North American Title reign would be the longest in NXT history, but also that he would have the most successful NA Title defenses of all time. LFG Season 2 winner Shiloh Hill gave All-Ego all he could handle last week, but Page prevailed, making Hill look good in the process.

But perhaps overshadowing his historic victory was what happened to Page after the match.

After months of antagonizing Myles Borne, trying to get the young up-and-comer to cut a few corners and break a few rules, Borne came out, finally willing to do whatever it takes to move up the NXT ladder. The North American Champ found himself with his ankle wedged inside a steel chair. Page’s mind games continued until Myles wound up to stomp on Ethan’s ankle. Then, in a shocking move that felt very heel-like, Borne stomped on Page’s ankle anyways, even after securing his shot at the gold.

What is the state of Page’s ankle? Will he be medically cleared to defend his championship tonight or did Myles Borne essentially screw himself out of a title match?

Will Tag Division’s Dark State Continue?

Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes of the Vanity Project earned an NXT Tag Title match last week by literally stumbling into a victory a chaotic Fatal 4 Way. Men’s Evolve Champion Jackson Drake, the third member of the group was instrumental in getting his buddies over the finish line, as their alliance with Ethan Page continues to pay dividends.

Next up for them is a shot at tag team gold, as the former Swipe Right takes on Saquon Shugars and Osiris Griffin of DarkState. The young villainous stable has been holding tag team gold since late October and hope to continue their reign over the tag division tonight. Will Cutler James and/or Dion Lennox be on hand to make sure the numbers game still favors the champs, or will they have to deal with Tony D’Angelo again this week?

Quick Hits

  • A war of words between Ricky Saints and NXT Men’s Champion Joe Hendry last week led to the signing of a title match between them in less than two weeks at Vengeance Day. Will Hendry and Saints cross paths in the Performance Center, or maybe in the NXT parking lot this week?
  • Elio LeFleur and Eli Knight fought to a time limit draw last week in the Speed Tournament Finals. Interim GM Robert Stone rectified the situation by signing an unprecedented match for this week, forcing Jasper Troy to defend his Speed Title in a Triple Threat match against them. Will the man Booker T. calls the “Mounsta” be able to fend off two challengers or will a new champ be crowned?
  • The new stable, Birthright, is looking to get off the ground and will try to do so this week as new recruit Uriah Connors takes on his former Chase U classmate Kale Dixon. With Lexis King, Stacks, and TNA Knockout’s Champion, Arianna Grace lurking, can Uriah get in the win column for his new running buddies, or will Chase U’s student body storm the ring after a huge upset win by Dixon?
  • Keanu Carver has been wreaking havoc on the NXT locker room for the last few weeks, destroying anything and anyone in his path. This week, he’ll finally get a taste of singles action in the ring when he takes on fellow Evolve call-up Sean Legacy. Does buff Orange Cassidy stand a chance against NXT’s newest powerhouse?
  • Blake Monroe found herself in the right place at the right time last week. She was looking for an opportunity and Robert Stone needed another competitor in the Speed Tournament. Two birds were fed with one scone and Blake was grateful for the opportunity….. until she found out she’d be facing Thea Hail. Will Blake check something off of her NXT to-do list and advance in the tournament or will Thea get the best of the Glamour again?
  • Kelani Jordan scored a huge victory over her rival, Lola Vice, last week, thanks to a brutal assault on Lola’s injured hand. Is there still a score to settle between these two, or will Kelani find somebody else in the locker room to pick on?

All this and more on what’s sure to be an eventful episode of NXT on the CW tonight, with just 11 days until NXT Vengeance Day. Follow along with the live coverage here on Cageside, starting at 8 PM Eastern!
