Self-appreciation not only keeps us motivated but also stops us from being hurt when others don't appreciate us.  

We usually rely on others to recognise and appreciate our efforts. When this doesn't happen, we feel our effort are worthless. This sometimes becomes a source of disappointment for us, and we even begin to doubt ourselves.

Be a self-encourager. Others might not compliment your efforts, but you know how difficult it was, how hard you tried and how you felt, you must appreciate yourself.
