Why I Don’t Want Super Eagles to Qualify for 2026 World Cup – Sodje

Former Super Eagles defender, Sam Sodje has reiterated that he hopes Nigeria does not qualify for the FIFA World Cup, even as the football governing body’s ruling looms.

Speaking with Brila.net, Sodje stated that the NFF should move on and focus on developing the game in the country.

“I think we should move forward,” Sodje said. “If FIFA decision works in our favour so be it, but to say the truth I don’t want us to qualify.

“I don’t want it because we need to see how bad our football has become, I am not looking forward to it.

“But because I am a Nigerian, I want to see FIFA’s decision go our way, but if you ask me personally I am hoping we don’t go,” he said.

Nigeria is still awaiting FIFA’s verdict on the World Cup eligibility protest, with a decision expected before the end of the week.

The Football Federation remains confident that they have presented a strong case against the Democratic Republic of Congo, while the Congolese FA maintain that they have committed no wrongdoing.
