A Nigerian man has shared a personal relationship experience on social media, sparking conversations around consent and boundaries in modern dating.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the man recounted his brief relationship with a 20-year-old lady he dated some years ago.

Relationship Ends Over Intimacy Concerns

According to him, the issues began during her visits when they attempted to become intimate. He explained that despite engaging in foreplay, he noticed she often appeared reluctant.

He said he chose to stop each time he sensed hesitation.

“The second time, the same thing happened, and I don’t like stressing myself when it comes to intimacy,” he wrote.

Concerned by the repeated pattern, he said he decided to ask her why she always seemed unwilling.

The young woman reportedly told him she had been the same way with her ex-boyfriend, whom she said had deflowered her.

The man added that she told him he needed to put in more effort to make her “give in.” She also allegedly said that when she asked him to stop, he should not stop.

Firm Stand on Personal Boundaries

The man said he rejected that suggestion outright.

He stated that he did not want to find himself in a situation where he could later be accused of forcing himself on her.

“I told her straight that I don’t do that,” he wrote.

According to him, the relationship lasted only three months before he decided to end it.
