The Leader of the Coalition of Northern Group (CNG), Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi has alleged that the recent End Bad governance protest represent only a fraction of the potential unrest that could erupt. He identified the severe deprivation, illiteracy, and frustration afflicting the people in the Northern region.

He emphasized that these dire conditions have bred a population of angry, destitute individuals who are desperate and unable to make rational decisions due to their overwhelming hunger and anger. He painted a bleak picture of the northern streets where desperation has driven people to destructive behaviors, such as vandalizing infrastructure to salvage whatever they can find. He lamented the disconnect between the suffering populace and the country’s leaders, who remain indifferent to the plight of the people.

He said in an interview with The Sun, ”The leaders of this country need to understand that Nigerian is sitting on a keg of gunpowder. What happened during this protest is just a tip of the iceberg of what is coming. I’m from the north, we have seen the kind of people that are on the streets; we have seen their level of intelligence, we have seen their illiteracy level, we have seen the level of their wellbeing and so many things in them. These people are destitute, they are frustrated, and they are hungry and angry. An angry man can never think of the right direction he is supposed to take. An angry man doesn’t have the time to think of what is right or wrong.

The people we have seen in the streets of the north are angry people, and that is why you see them even destroying concrete slabs and taking the rods away. Anything they can lay their hands on, they can vandalise it. It is very sad that we have this kind situation and our leaders are not concerned and they are cruising in their SUVs and billions of naira is spent on politicians.
