A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Seyi Clement, has raised concerns about the deepening crisis within the party, warning that internal divisions could weaken its future.

Speaking during an interview on Silverbird TV, Clement described the party’s problems as being driven mainly by personal interests rather than a shared national vision. He stressed the need for members to confront these issues directly, even if it means making difficult decisions ahead of the next election cycle.

The crisis largely revolves around two major blocs—one linked to Nyesom Wike and the other associated with Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed. According to Clement, both sides are contributing to the division, creating the impression that the party is being split into separate camps.

He expressed worry that this ongoing conflict could leave the PDP too weak to present a strong presidential candidate in 2027. Such a situation, he explained, would not only affect the presidential race but also have negative consequences for other elections, including the Senate, House of Representatives, and governorship contests.

Clement emphasized that the party must return to its original goal of serving the entire nation, rather than individual ambitions. Without unity and clear direction, he warned, the PDP risks losing its influence and relevance in Nigeria’s political landscape.
