Abu Dhabi Infrastructure Summit highlighted the UAE’s rapid expansion of smart, sustainable and AI-driven infrastructure projects.

ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates has reinforced its ambition to become a global benchmark for smart and sustainable urban development during the Abu Dhabi Infrastructure Summit. Speaking at the opening session of the event, His Excellency Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, said the country’s long-term planning and adoption of advanced technologies have helped position the UAE among the world’s leading nations for infrastructure and road quality.

Al Mazrouei said the UAE is preparing to launch a new generation of major infrastructure developments over the coming years, matching the scale of projects delivered during previous decades. He explained that future upgrades are expected to improve the efficiency and capacity of transport networks and infrastructure systems by up to 70 per cent, supporting economic growth and population expansion.

Addressing delegates at Abu Dhabi Infrastructure Summit, the minister said the country’s infrastructure model combines technology, energy, logistics and community wellbeing within a single integrated ecosystem. He noted that infrastructure development is not only driving economic performance but also improving quality of life and strengthening national competitiveness.

The minister also highlighted the UAE’s resilience during recent global disruptions across transport, logistics and energy sectors. He added that digital transformation now plays a central role in future planning, with artificial intelligence, digital twins and smart systems increasingly integrated into infrastructure operations. According to officials, digital twin projects in the UAE have already surpassed AED2 billion in value.

The second edition of Abu Dhabi Infrastructure Summit welcomed more than 6,000 attendees at ADNEC, bringing together government entities, developers and international construction firms. Day one included the signing of 10 strategic agreements and announcements linked to Abu Dhabi’s long-term infrastructure agenda, including a governance framework designed to accelerate capital project approvals across the emirate.
