UK Politician Slams Anthony Joshua For Displaying Nigerian Flag During Fight Against Jake Paul

British politician, Nick Buckley, has stirred controversy online after publicly criticising heavyweight boxing star Anthony Joshua for displaying the Nigerian flag rather than that of the United Kingdom during his most recent fight

Buckley made the remarks in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, where he questioned Joshua’s decision to identify with Nigeria despite being raised and based in the UK.

In the post, Buckley accused the former world champion of ingratitude and claimed that Joshua’s actions reflected what he described as the negative effects of mass immigration.

He also referenced Joshua’s comments during the Black Lives Matter protests, alleging that the boxer had made anti-white statements at the time.

Buckley further criticised Joshua for waving what he termed a “third world flag,” arguing that it did not represent him. He went on to claim that the boxer would continue to live in predominantly white countries and would never choose to reside in Nigeria.

Anthony Joshua, who was born in the UK to Nigerian parents, has long spoken openly about his Nigerian heritage and has frequently celebrated his roots by flying the country’s green-and-white flag during international bouts.

Buckley’s comments have since attracted widespread reactions on social media, with many users condemning the remarks as divisive, while others debated issues of identity, heritage and national representation in sports.
