Troops rescued 318 kidnapped victims, foiled oil theft in November – DHQ

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) Thursday said troops deployed to different theatres of operation across the county rescued 318 kidnapped victims and foiled oil theft worth the sum of Two Hundred and Seventeen Million, Six Hundred and Sixty Four Thousand, Six Hundred and Eighteen Naira (N217,664,618.00) in the month of November.

The military high command also said several terrorists, bandits, extremists and other criminal elements were arrested, scores were neutralised and over 69 of them and their family members surrendered to troops.

Director Defence Media Operations Major General Michael Onoja who disclosed this while briefing journalists in Abuja, said assured Nigerians that the military has put measures in place to ensure that the remaining students recently abducted are rescued and returned to their families unhurt.

He said the Joint Task Force North East OPERATION HADIN KAI (OPHK) sustained its operational momentum by denying Boko Haram, ISWAP and JAS terrorists’ freedom of action in the North East region.

“Ground forces in conjunction with the Air Component and Hybrid forces as well as local security groups, conducted aggressive operations across the theatre.

“During these operations, troops neutralised several terrorists and arrested their informants and logistics suppliers. They also recovered weapons and dismantled terrorists’ networks,’ he said.

He said their efforts paved the way for the safe resettlement of displaced persons.

“For instance, from 27 November – 3 December 2025, troops conducted operations against terrorists in Mafa, Ngala, Ngazai, Konduga,Bama, Askira Uba and Chibok LGAs of Borno State.

’Similar operation was conducted in Madagali and Song LGAs of Adamawa State. During the encounters, scores of the terrorists were neutralized. Also, 6 of their collaborators, informants, sympathizers and spies were arrested, while 5kidnapped victims were rescued. Significant quantities of arms and ammunition, vehiclesand motorcycles were also recovered, while their camps were destroyed. Recovered weapons are in troops’ custody for further action,” he said.

Speaking further, the defence spokesperson said, troops of Joint Task Force North West Operation Fansan Yamma
(OPFY) sustained operational tempo throughout the period.

He said during the period, a significant number of terrorists were neutralised and kidnapped victims were rescued.

“ For instance, from 27 November – 3 December 2025, troops conducted offensive operations in Anka, Maradun and TalataMafaraLGAs of Zamfara state. Troops conducted operations in Wurno and Sabon Birni LGAs of Sokoto state as well as Batsari, Kankara, and Kankiya LGAs of Katsina state, “ he said.
