Troops neutralise bandit, recover AK-47 rifle and ammunition in Kwara operation

The troops of 22 Armoured Brigade deployed at Forward Operating Base Patigi have recorded another operational success against criminal elements operating in the general area of Lema Daban area in Kwara State.  Captain Stephen Nwankwo, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 22 Armoured Brigade, Ilorin, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.   Acting on credible intelligence, the troops staged an ambush along LemaDaban Lema road in Edu Local Government Area in the early hours of Wednesday, 3 September 2025.   The troops, leveraging superior firepower, forced the criminals to flee in disarray to a nearby forest.  In a follow-up exploitation, the troops neutralised a bandit and recovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. A motorcycle used by the terrorists was also received.   The remains of the neutralised bandit have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation to apprehend other criminal gangs.  Commending the operation, the Commander 22 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Ezra Bark-ins, hailed the troops vigilance and resilience.   He urged them to sustain the momentum and reiterated the Brigades resolve to rid Kwara and its environs of criminal elements while ensuring the safety of law-abiding citizens. This operation also underscores the commitment of the Nigerian Army to a safer environment for a successful farming season.
