Transformative Projects in Ife North Challenge APC’s Narrative: Adeleke Leads the Way

The recent claim by the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), that Ife North has been “starved of development” under the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke is not supported by documented projects and visible developments across the local government.

While political actors are entitled to advance their aspirations, such claims must still be measured against tangible outcomes rather than campaign rhetoric.

Under Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration, Ife North has recorded significant progress in road infrastructure. These include the completion and rehabilitation of the 3.5km Akinlalu Town–Akinlalu Junction Road, the 10.4km Edunabon–Tonkere Road, and the Magistrate Court Junction–Akinrinade Junction Road with a spur to Itamerin Road in Yakoyo. These interventions have improved connectivity, reduced transportation difficulties, and strengthened economic activity across affected communities.

The Edunabon–Tonkere Road and the Akinlalu Town–Akinlalu Junction Road, which were deliberately abandoned and suffered over four decades of neglect under previous administrations, were fully completed under the present administration. These long-neglected corridors have now been restored, significantly improving mobility and economic access across the local government.

Beyond road infrastructure, the administration has renovated Primary Health Care Centres in Akinlalu, Okooko (Ipetumodu), and Edunabon, improved access to basic healthcare delivery, and expanded potable water supply through the drilling of multiple boreholes across several communities.

The administration has also undertaken the renovation of schools across the local government, including C&S Grammar School, Origbo Anglican Grammar School, CAC Grammar School Ipetumodu, LA Secondary School, and schools in Oyere, among others, as part of its commitment to strengthening educational infrastructure.

In addition, constituency projects facilitated by the Deputy Speaker have further reinforced grassroots development. These include the provision of a 500KVA transformer and repairs of others, construction and rehabilitation of classroom blocks, healthcare support initiatives, skill acquisition programmes, and installation of motorized boreholes. Also included are the distribution of over 15,000 notebooks to pupils and students, as well as the provision of more than 800 UTME forms.

Given these cumulative interventions, the claim that Ife North has been abandoned is not supported by verifiable development records on ground.

More importantly, AMBO’s pledge of 24-hour electricity supply raises serious questions of credibility and feasibility. His party has repeatedly made similar promises at the national level over the years, yet Nigeria continues to face persistent electricity challenges affecting households, businesses, and industries. Against this backdrop, the electorate is therefore entitled to ask what new framework makes this promise different from previous unfulfilled assurances.

Political communication should be anchored on facts, performance, and realistic solutions—not narratives that ignore visible development for electoral advantage.

The people of Ife North are sincerely appreciated for their continued support and trust in ongoing development efforts. The Imole agenda remains a commitment to continuity, stability, and sustained progress in Osun State. In contrast, the 12-year administration of the APC in Osun State represents a period the state is still recovering from, as the present administration continues to correct past failures through visible and people-centred development.

Segun AMURE
Spokesperson to the Deputy Speaker
Osun State House of Assembly.
