Tom Brady/WWE trash talk saga could be nearing its inevitable conclusion at WrestleMania 42

The back-and-forth verbal sparring between Tom Brady and WWE superstars could lead to a big payoff at WrestleMania 42, if a new report from veteran wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer is to be believed.

According to Meltzer, whose reliability has been called into question by various wrestling personalties, the NFL legend is reportedly “in negotiations” with WWE about an upcoming appearance, possibly in Las Vegas at WrestleMania.

However, Dave cautioned that an actual deal between the two camps has not been reached yet. 

“From what I have been told, they are in negotiations for Tom Brady, but there’s absolutely not a deal at this point for Tom Brady,” Meltzer said on Monday’s episode of Wrestling Observer Radio.

He continued: ”So it could happen, obviously Logan Paul and Tom Brady are working, everyone knows they’re working the angle I think people have seen that coming in, but there could be something in some form at WrestleMania. 

“It would not be a surprise, and what they did in the [flag] football game was clearly to build it, all the talk of Tom Brady cutting down pro wrestlers and all the wrestlers responding, that is all storyline,” Meltzer said. “That is not Tom Brady’s a dick and he doesn’t respect pro wrestling.”

As Meltzer alluded to, the seven-time Super Bowl champion has garnered headlines in recent weeks for derisive comments made about WWE and pro wrestling in general, which resulted in responses from multiple WWE superstars.

The smack talk began during Brady’s appearance on Paul’s Impaulsive podcast in February, during which he downplayed the physical toughness of wrestlers in comparison to NFL players. Brady said that while he loves the WWE, he found the company’s work “cute.” 

Brady then doubled down on his stance in an interview with a Sports Illustrated reporter.

“You know, all their stuff is so cute and scripted, and they know what’s going on,” Brady told the reporter in a clip posted on Sports Illustrated‘s X (Twitter) account. “In a football game, you don’t know, so they wouldn’t get near me. Plus, if I had a good offensive line, they’ll punch those guys right in the throat and they’d be probably crying.”

He added: “There’s no fake BS we do in American football. For those guys, it would be a whole different story for them.”
