Tiwa Savage pushes back against 'Big 3' label in Afrobeats

Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has opened up about her controversial remark on the so-called “Big 3” in Afrobeats during a candid interview on the popular radio show The Breakfast Club.

In the interview aired on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, when asked about her statement, “Fuck the big three,” Savage clarified her words. “Not fuck them, but fuck the narrative,” she explained, referring to the common label for Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido.

She expressed frustration over the frequent reduction of the vibrant Afrobeats scene to just three male artists. “This is a big continent with so many talented artists, yet the conversation keeps coming back to only three names,” she said.

Tiwa Savage highlighted other influential musicians who deserve recognition, including Diamond Platnumz, Flavour, Yemi Alade, Tems, Rema, and Asake.
