Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has expressed strong confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure re-election in 2027, declaring that the opposition lacks any viable alternative vision for Nigeria.

Uzodimma, who also serves as the National Coordinator of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHAs), made the assertion on Monday while declaring open the two-day RHAs South-South Zonal Summit in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

The summit, themed “One Party, One Message, One Mobilisation,” brought together participants from Delta, Edo, Bayelsa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers States.

The Imo governor acknowledged the pains of ongoing economic reforms but insisted that President Tinubu’s bold decisions were necessary to correct long-standing distortions in the economy.

“For decades, the country ran on subsidy, multiple exchange rates that benefited only a few, a power sector that consumed revenue without delivering power, and a revenue system so distorted that states could not plan,” Uzodimma said.

“But President Tinubu came and said it is enough, we will fix the system. This is no propaganda. Tinubu’s achievements speak volumes. These are facts – the results of bold transformative reforms.”

He noted a disconnect between macro-level stabilisation and the micro-level hardships faced by ordinary Nigerians, explaining that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors were created precisely to bridge that gap.

“The president has done his work of reform. He has demonstrated that true leadership is about the courage to take necessary decisions, even if painful, in the interest of posterity,” he added.

Uzodimma charged the ambassadors to intensify grassroots engagement, explaining government policies in simple terms and reassuring citizens that the current pains are temporary while the gains of the reforms will be permanent.

“Food prices are gradually stabilising, the naira is gaining strength, inflation is trending downwards. Nigeria is turning the corner. We are exiting the woods, and the fruits of these reforms will soon begin to trickle in,” he said.

He described the RHAs as “the interpreters of this vision, the translators of policy into everyday language, and the bridge between government performance and citizens’ awareness.”

“Tinu bu will be re-elected. The opposition has nothing to offer; it has no alternative vision. Our task is to get the people to understand and key into the vision of the president,” Uzodimma declared.

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who hosted the summit, described it as a strategic platform to strengthen party structures and deepen grassroots mobilisation in the South-South region.

He stressed the importance of unity, warning that fragmented messaging would create opportunities for the opposition.

“Unity must be matched with action. We must take the message to the people, defend our reforms, and mobilise effectively,” Oborevwori said.

Former Delta State Governor and South-South Coordinator of the RHAs, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, explained that the summit aimed to equip participants with the tools to communicate the administration’s reform agenda effectively.

He highlighted achievements such as improved foreign reserves, increased oil production, expanded healthcare access, education reforms, and infrastructure development, while admitting that a communication gap had limited public appreciation of these gains.

South-West Coordinator of the RHAs and summit chairman, Senator Adedayo Adeyeye, described the South-South as the economic backbone of Nigeria and expressed optimism that the APC would triumph in the 2027 general elections, citing the region’s growing alignment with the party’s policies.

The Renewed Hope Ambassadors initiative is designed to mobilise support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and counter misinformation at the grassroots level.
