Tinubu Congratulates Adeleke on Osun Re-election, Says Victory Affirms Nigeria’s Democratic Growth

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election, describing the outcome of the election as a reaffirmation of the people’s confidence in his leadership and a positive signal for the growth of democracy in Nigeria.

Tinubu, in a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said Adeleke’s victory demonstrated the confidence reposed in him by the people of Osun State.

The President disclosed that he had personally called Adeleke to congratulate him on his electoral victory and wished him success as he begins another four-year term in office.

“I called Governor Ademola Adeleke earlier today to congratulate him on his election victory in Osun State. His victory once again confirmed the confidence the people of Osun State have in him,” Tinubu said.

The President, however, urged the governor to see his re-election as a mandate to unite the state and work for all residents, irrespective of their political affiliations or the candidates they supported during the election.

According to him, Adeleke’s second term should be focused on promoting unity, stability and sustainable socio-economic development across Osun State.

“Now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made at the election,” he said.

### Tinubu commends other candidates

Tinubu also commended the other candidates who participated in the governorship contest, praising them for their courage and discipline throughout the electoral process.

He said their participation contributed to strengthening Nigeria’s democratic culture by providing voters with alternatives and allowing the electorate to exercise their constitutional right to choose their leaders.

“I salute the courage and discipline displayed by other contestants in the election. Their participation deepened and enriched our country’s democratic culture,” the President said.

He stressed that the peaceful conclusion of the election and the emergence of a clear winner demonstrated the resilience of Nigeria’s democratic institutions.

“The outcome of the election reflects the will of the people and is a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in our land,” Tinubu added.

### President praises INEC, security agencies

The President also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agencies for their roles in the conduct of the election.

Tinubu said the electoral authorities and security personnel deserved commendation for ensuring that the exercise was conducted peacefully and transparently and for providing an environment that enabled voters to exercise their franchise.

He urged all stakeholders to respect the outcome of the election and continue to support democratic institutions in the interest of national development.

For Adeleke, the President said the priority should now shift from electoral competition to governance and delivering tangible improvements in the lives of the people of Osun State.

He urged the governor to use the renewed mandate to consolidate development efforts, strengthen stability and pursue policies capable of expanding economic opportunities and improving social welfare across the state.

The President’s message comes as Adeleke prepares to commence another four-year tenure following his victory at the polls, with the outcome expected to set the stage for the next phase of political and socio-economic governance in Osun State.
