A homebuilt sports car project with Aston Martin styling cues and carbon bits turns heads in Australia

This Nissan Z Has An Aston Martin Face And It Weirdly Works
  • Aussie builder gave his Nissan 370Z an Aston Martin-inspired face.
  • Car started as an accident-repaired 370Z bought on the cheap.
  • Aluminum panels and carbon fiber parts complete the unique build.

Previous generations of the Nissan Z have long been a favorite for project builds, mixing sleek proportions with a V6 engine and rear-wheel drive. In Brisbane, Australian enthusiast Jordan Harper has taken that formula and given it his own twist, turning his Nissan into something with more than a hint of Aston Martin attitude.

The starting point was a facelifted Nissan 370Z that was bought for cheap due to its accident history. While the sports car had been fully repaired, the new owner wanted something a lot more unique. He cut the front and rear ends and tweaked the design using aluminum composite bits.

A New Face

The biggest transformation comes at the front. Harper’s design borrows elements from the pre-facelift Aston Martin Vantage and the Mazda MX-5 ND. The headlights, built from scratch, are strikingly compact compared to the stock 370Z units and still await their high beams and indicators. Nestled against swollen fenders, they give the car a more aggressive stance.

The front bumper has received an aerodynamic extension, a tweaked central intake, and additional vents on the nose. The profile is largely carried over, with a matte paintjob freshening it up. The aftermarket 18-inch alloy wheels are finished in black with yellow brake calipers.

Mixing And Matching Parts

For the rear end, Harper used a boot lip from a Mercedes-AMG C63, and a slightly modified rear wing from a BMW M3 – both made of carbon fiber. The new setup also includes a pair of aftermarket taillights connected via an LED strip, with a rear diffuser and centrally-mounted dual tailpipes being under development.

The most recent photos of the build suggest that Harper is undecided about the tail, as the model appears to be fitted with a different rear spoiler. However, this is still a work-in-progress and the final design has yet to be unveiled.

So far, Harper hasn’t mentioned anything about performance or chassis upgrades, besides sharing photos with a Nitrous bottle for track use. From the factory, the Nissan 370Z was equipped with a 3.7-liter V6 engine generating 332 hp (248 kW / 337 PS) and 366 Nm (270 lb-ft) of torque right from the factory. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic.

This build is still taking shape, and the finished product promises to be something special. We’ll share more photos and videos once Harper unveils the completed car. Until then, here’s a look at its current stage below.
