They Are Demanding N50M, I Don’t Have That Kind Of Money. His Father Died When He Was 3Years -Mother

Mrs. Margaret Daniel, the mother of Bassey Daniel, who was kidnapped in Zamfara along with seven other NYSC members, said that the kidnappers are demanding fifty million naira (N50 million) for the freedom of her son Bassy, and she said she does not have that kind of money. Mrs. Margaret Daniel noted that her husband, who happens to be the father of Bassey Daniel, died when he was just 3 years old.

While lamenting to reporters, Mrs. Margaret Daniel said that she is just a petty trader that sells bread and akara and that she can’t afford to raise the kind of money the kidnappers are asking for. She said that the kidnappers abducted nine people, and eight have regained freedom, but her son is the only one left in the kidnappers den.

She said she used the little money she got from the Akara business to raise Bassey and send him to school. Mrs. Margret Daniel appealed to the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, the NYSC officials, and security agencies to help her secure the release of her son from the kidnapping den.

As reported by The Vanguard News on Thursday, Mrs. Margret Daniel lamented, “I am just a petty trader; I sell akara and bread. How am I going to raise that kind of money? I am helpless, and in fact, when that amount of money was mentioned, I fell sick. And I have been asking God, Why my only son? There were nine people that were kidnapped that day in Zamfara; the other eight have regained their freedom, remaining my son. They are demanding N50 million; I don’t have that kind of money.
