Right Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. (Rtd) Bliss Divine Agbeko – Moderator, EPCG.

Right Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. (Rtd) Bliss Divine Agbeko, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG) Sunday stated that the quality of the character of Christians should reflect the Christ in them.

He therefore noted that such a Christlike character would enable them to shy away from corrupt and evil ways.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Agbeko stated this in a sermon he preached at the induction of the newly elected executives of the Catechists and Evangelists Union of the Church at the Kekeli congregation at SSNIT Flats in Ho.

The sermon which was on the theme “The True Way of Life” was taken from Isaiah 58: 1 – 12, I Corinthians 2: 1 – 12 and Matthew 5: 13 – 20.

The Moderator told the new executives that leadership was not a demonstration but should be practical.

He advised them to preach the word of God according to His will and radiate, practice and do what they preach.

“As leaders, you should be like salt to stop decay in society, call people to faith, lead them to God and bring God to them.

“You should also be important to people as salt and light are to people and use the power of the Gospel to build the Church, society and relationships,” Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Agbeko advised.

He told them that in their worship of God they should keep their hearts and minds clean and pure adding “have clean faith, clean worship, clean relationships and demonstrate what you believe.”

He reminded them of the Church’s General Assembly theme “Cleanliness is next to Godliness: Keep clean”

The Moderator intimated that God revealed Himself to the world through the way Christians relate with others so they should reveal God to people not only through their preaching but also by the way they relate to them.

He urged them to make God the central point of their worship and always be faithful to Him.

Rt Rev Dr. Lt. Col. Agbeko stated that by so doing God would fight their spiritual warfare for them adding “your enemies should not be your business.”

He advised them not to seek power from the forces of darkness but rely on God for strength, power and authority.

The new executives, who were inducted into office by the Moderator are Catechist Francis Yao Siegu, President, Cat. Prosper Fiamanya, Vice President, Cat. Alfred Kumah, General Secretary and Cat. Rose Anafo, Assistant General Secretary.

The others are Cat. S.B.K. Danso, Public Relations Officer, Cat. C.Y. Mensah Agbevadi, Treasurer and Cat. Ruby Anku, Financial Secretary.

The new President will serve a six-year one term while the rest will serve a four-year term and will be eligible for reelection.

Cat Siegu on behalf of his colleagues thanked the Union for the confidence reposed in them and assured that they would work to build on the work of their predecessors.

He stated that servant leadership, accountability, and teamwork would be their trademarks.

Cat Siegu was full of praise for the former executives and stated the new executives would continually tap into their experience.

Presents were Rev. Dr. Lawson Kwaku Dzanku, Clerk of the General Assembly of the Church, Cat. Sylvanus Anku, the outgone President of the Union whose term office ended on December 31, last year, representatives of the Presbyters Union and groups of the church, family members and friends.
