Thai Community Events To Look Forward To Before The End of 2026

The Thai Community in Ghana since its inception has been undertaking various activities. These activities seek to strengthen Ghana-Thai relations and promote Thai culture in Ghana.

A popular event for the Southeast Asian nation in Ghana has been its annual Songkran Festival. The festival has been taking place since 2024. The festival brings together many Ghanaians and foreign residents in Ghana to celebrate Thai culture. They enjoy the coolness of water and reflect on its newness and ability to wash one clean.

The year 2026 has been an eventful one for the Thai Community. It has been marked by trainings and workshops for its members. It also included a volleyball tournament against the Filipino Community in Ghana and meetings in agriculture and trade.

With a few weeks left to the end of 2026, here are some events to look forward to from the Thai Community.

Taste of Thailand: Thai Introductory Cooking Class

Now in its second edition, the Taste of Thailand seeks to equip participants with knowledge of cooking techniques, key ingredients, kitchen tools and the cultural significance of cooking in Thai culture. The class is open to professionals in the food industry hoping to learn the basics of Thai cuisine. It also favors Thai food enthusiasts who would love to make authentic Thai dishes at home and also persons looking for a fun cultural activity. The classes will take place at the Thai House in East Legon on November 21, 2026. Interested persons can head to the Thai Community’s social media for more information.

Loy Krathong Festival

Observed together by the Thai Community in Ghana since 2014, the Loy Krathong Festival seeks to share the beauty of Thailand’s festival of lights. The celebration equips participants with the art of crafting a krathong from banana leaves and flowers and its cultural significance as an offering to the Goddess of Water to give thanks and let go of misfortune. It usually takes place on the full moon night of the 12th month of the traditional Thai lunar calendar. This year it will be observed on November 24th – 25th. The festival will take place in Accra.

Now in its second edition, the Thai National Day and Father’s Day seeks to commemorate Thailand’s National Day and honor the birthday anniversary of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great. It is observed as Father’s Day in Thailand on December 5th. Last year’s maiden edition was attended by dignitaries from the Malaysian High Commission and other diplomatic missions in Ghana. It also hosted prominent leaders in Ghana who enjoy Thai culture. It marked the inaugural Thai Food Festival, where cooked Thai food, Thai fruits and snacks were on sale. The food festival will make a return this year. The commemoration will take place in Accra.
