Tema Circuit Court remands narcotic suspects

Two suspects arrested by the Tema Regional Police Command with 1,613 parcels of suspected narcotic substances have been remanded into police custody by the Tema Circuit Court B.

The two accused persons are Isaac Odoi, 33 years old; and Kwame Mani, 39 years old.

The court presided over by Her Ladyship Mrs. Cynthia Wiredu, a High Court Judge sitting as an additional Circuit Court judge, remanded them to reappear in court on January 28, 2026, as the case is still under investigation.

Presenting the facts of the case, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Kraku Mensah indicated that the two were arrested after police intercepted a total of 1,613 parcels of substances suspected to be narcotic drugs in a well-coordinated intelligence operation along the Akosombo-Tema Road.

The facts stated that the operation followed intelligence received on January 10, 2026, indicating that suspected narcotic substances were being transported from the Volta Region towards Tema, adding that police teams quickly mounted surveillance along the route, focusing on the Agomeda Junction area.

The prosecution added that at about 00:45 hours on January 11, 2026, two vehicles, a white Toyota Highlander with registration number GS 2013-13 and a black Mitsubishi Pajero with registration number GC 400-22, were intercepted.

The vehicles that were being driven by the accused persons, Odoi and Mani, were searched, leading to the discovery of numerous compressed, yellow-wrapped parcels suspected to be narcotic drugs.

“In total, 872 parcels were found in the Mitsubishi Pajero, while 741 parcels were found in the Toyota Highlander, “the persecution said

The suspects, the prosecution added, were immediately arrested, and both vehicles were escorted to the station for further action, stressing that on January 12, 2026, the exhibits and suspects were handed over to the Regional CID, Tema, where photographs and inventories were taken.
