Super Falcons open WAFCON preparations in Casablanca

Nigeria’s Super Falcons will open their training camp in Casablanca on Monday as preparations begin for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Head coach Justine Madugu last week named a 25-player squad for the tournament, with all invited players expected to report to camp on Monday.

The nine-time African champions will use the Casablanca camp to intensify preparations before moving to Rabat for their Group C matches.

Nigeria will be aiming to reclaim the continental crown and win a record-extending 11th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title.

The Super Falcons have been drawn in Group C alongside debutants Malawi, Zambia and Egypt.

Madugu’s side will begin their campaign against Malawi’s Scorchers at Al Madina Stadium in Rabat on Tuesday, July 28.

Nigeria will then face Zambia’s Copper Queens at the same venue on Saturday, August 1, before concluding the group stage against Egypt at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat on Wednesday, August 5.

The 2026 WAFCON will also serve as Africa’s qualifying tournament for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, with the four highest-placed teams securing automatic qualification for the global showpiece.
