SUCCESS, PURPOSE, AND THE POWER OF GOD-GIVEN IDEAS

Many people spend their lives pursuing success, wealth, and recognition. Society teaches us that if we can acquire enough money, possessions, or status, we will finally be successful.

However, God's perspective is different.

The Bible teaches that true success begins with our relationship with God, our obedience to His Word, and our commitment to fulfilling His purpose for our lives.

While money has its place, it was never meant to be life's ultimate pursuit. God created every person with purpose, gifts, and the capacity to create value. When we discover His purpose and faithfully use what He has given us, success becomes a by-product of faithful stewardship.

What Is True Success?

The world often defines success by wealth, popularity, and possessions.

God defines success differently.

When God spoke to Joshua, He did not tell him to pursue riches. Instead, He instructed him to meditate on God's Word and obey it.

"Then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success." — Bible Joshua 1:8

According to Scripture, true success is:

Knowing God.

Obeying His Word.

Fulfilling His purpose.

Being faithful with what He has entrusted to us.

Positively impacting others.

Success is not merely what you have; it is becoming who God created you to be.

Success Is a Matter of Becoming

The statement, "Success is not something you pursue; success is a matter of becoming a person of value," contains an important truth.

Before God blesses a person with greater influence, He often develops their character.

God is more concerned about who you are becoming than what you are accumulating.

The Bible teaches:

"A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD." — Proverbs 12:2

Notice that God first focuses on the person before the possessions.

Character produces trust. Trust creates influence. Influence creates opportunities.

The person you become determines the level of responsibility God can place in your hands.

Pursue Purpose, Not Money

Many people seek money as their primary goal.

The Bible warns against this.

"For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil." — 1 Timothy 6:10

The problem is not money itself. The problem is making money our master.

Instead of pursuing money, believers should pursue:

God's Kingdom.

God's purpose.

God's righteousness.

Jesus taught:

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." — Matthew 6:33

When God's purpose becomes your priority, provision follows His assignment.

Ideas Are Gifts from God

The original statement says that ideas control the world.

There is much truth in this because every invention, business, solution, and advancement begins as an idea.

However, believers must recognize the source of true wisdom and ideas.

God is the giver of wisdom.

"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God." — James 1:5

The creativity that produces solutions comes from God Himself.

Throughout Scripture, God gave people supernatural wisdom and ideas.

Joseph

Joseph received divine wisdom that saved Egypt and surrounding nations from famine.

Bezalel

Bezalel was filled with God's Spirit and given creative skill to design and build the Tabernacle.

Solomon

Solomon received wisdom from God that attracted leaders from around the world.

God is still giving ideas today to those who seek Him.

Understanding the Three Types of People

Poor People Talk About Money

Many people become trapped in a survival mentality.

Their thoughts are dominated by lack and immediate needs.

While financial concerns are real, a person cannot build a great future while thinking only about today's problems.

Rich People Talk About Fame

Recognition and status can become idols.

Jesus warned against living for the praise of men.

Human applause is temporary.

God's approval is eternal.

Wealthy People Talk About Ideas

Ideas are valuable because they create solutions.

However, from a biblical perspective, the highest level of thinking is not merely ideas but God-inspired ideas.

A person may possess brilliant ideas yet still miss God's purpose.

The greatest ideas are those that align with God's will and benefit humanity.

The Example of Modern Innovators

People often point to men like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs.

Their success demonstrates that innovation and problem-solving create tremendous value.

Yet as believers, our ultimate example is not found in business leaders but in Christ.

Jesus solved humanity's greatest problem—sin and separation from God.

His life teaches us that the highest purpose is not accumulating wealth but serving others and glorifying God.

Practical Applications

1. Develop Your Relationship with God

Before seeking ideas, seek the God who gives ideas.

Prayer, worship, and studying Scripture sharpen spiritual understanding.

2. Discover Your God-Given Purpose

Ask God:

"Why did You create me?" "What assignment have You given me?"

Purpose brings direction.

3. Develop Your Mind

Read. Learn. Study. Grow.

God often uses prepared minds to accomplish extraordinary things.

4. Solve Problems

Every problem is an opportunity to serve.

People who solve problems create value.

People who create value become influential.

5. Be Faithful with Small Things

Great success often begins with small acts of obedience.

God promotes faithful stewards.

6. Use Wealth as a Tool

Money is a servant, not a master.

Use it to bless people, support God's work, strengthen families, and help communities.

Conclusion

Success is not found in the pursuit of money.

True success is found in becoming the person God created you to be.

Money may follow value. Opportunities may follow ideas. Influence may follow excellence.

But the greatest success is knowing God, obeying His Word, fulfilling His purpose, and serving others faithfully.

The world says: "Pursue wealth."

God says: "Pursue Me."

The world says: "Chase success."

God says: "Become faithful."

The world says: "Get more."

God says: "Be more."

When a person walks in God's purpose, develops godly character, embraces divine wisdom, and serves others with excellence, success becomes more than an achievement—it becomes the fruit of a life lived according to God's design.

May we not merely seek prosperity, but seek the God who gives purpose, wisdom, and lasting success. Hallelujah! More Success To You!

Key takeaway: The original message is largely correct about value, purpose, and ideas. The biblical correction is that ideas alone do not control the world—God does. Ideas become powerful when they are inspired by wisdom, governed by righteous character, and aligned with God's purpose. Amen.
