President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to stop the planned protests against his government.

This message was conveyed by the Information Minister Mohammed Idris on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

Aggrieved Nigerians have announced their intention to hold a nationwide protest against the poor governance under President Tinubu’s leadership.

The protest is scheduled to begin on August 1 and last for ten days.

Following a meeting with the President, Idris stated that Tinubu is asking on the organisers of the upcoming protests to cancel their plans and await for a response to their complaints.

“The issue of the planned protest, Mr President does not see any need for that. He’s asked them to shelve that plan. He’s asked them to await the government’s response to all their pleas,” the minister said.

The protest was prompted by the widespread dissatisfaction with economic hardship, inflation, fuel price increases, high cost of living and insecurity, among other issues facing citizens.
