Omoyele Sowore, a former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, has made serious allegations against the administration led by President Bola Tinubu, claiming that it has already acquired a $100 million presidential jet.

According to Vanguard Newspaper, this accusation follows a recent recommendation by the House of Representatives to procure a new aircraft for President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima due to the dysfunctionality of existing planes in the Presidential Fleet.

The proposal to purchase a new jet has sparked widespread outrage on social media and has been met with strong opposition from many Nigerians.

Sowore took to his social media handle on Monday to assert that Tinubu had already finalized the acquisition of the jet, which reportedly involved an additional $50 million for configuration or reconfiguration.

He criticized both Tinubu and the federal government, questioning their priorities when they struggle to meet basic financial obligations such as paying minimum wages to workers.

He said via X, “While they are telling you to ‘exercise patience’ @officialABAT already bought a $100m Presidential Jet and configured or reconfigured it with some $50 million and it is ready for delivery! The jet is an A330-200 initially christened VP-CAC is now registered as 5N-FGA.

“This was not in the annual budget, they can’t pay minimum wage for workers but could afford $150m for a private jet, students have to obtain loans to go to college but they could afford to approve billions for hajj even as the money/ies ended up being stolen. Fight we MUST!”

As public scrutiny intensifies, demands for accountability and judicious use of public funds continue to resonate among Nigerians concerned about economic inequality and government accountability….Seē _ Morē
