From Ifeoma Ejiofor

Nnewi digital community has commended the Iykon Foundation for its impactful youth empowerment initiative designed to equip young people in Nnewi with practical, income-generating skills and financial support.

The commendation was contained in a press statement signed by the Founder of Nnewi Digital Community, Cornel Osigwe.

The statement noted that the program, which offers training in Electrical/Electronics Technology, ICT (Software & Hardware), Building Technology, Catering and Hotel Management, Fashion and Garment Making, Agriculture, Shoe and Bag Making, and Painting, reflects a strategic and well-structured approach to tackling youth unemployment through market-relevant vocational development.

The statement reads, “These skill areas remain critical to the real sector of the economy and provide immediate pathways to self-reliance. In a commercially vibrant city like Nnewi, beneficiaries are well-positioned to convert these competencies into sustainable businesses and long-term economic value.

“A key highlight of the initiative is the Foundation’s commitment to provide each beneficiary with a grant of One Million Naira upon completion of the six-month training program. This financial support addresses one of the most significant barriers faced by young entrepreneurs; startup capital and positions participants for immediate business take-off and scalability.

“In furtherance of maximizing the long-term impact of this laudable initiative, the Nnewi Digital Community proposes a strategic collaboration with the Iykon Foundation to integrate social media marketing and basic digital enterprise training into the program. This partnership would enable beneficiaries to effectively promote their services online, expand beyond local markets, and build strong, competitive business brands.

“The integration of digital tools will enhance visibility, improve customer acquisition, and increase revenue potential for participants, thereby positioning them to thrive in today’s increasingly digital and interconnected economy.

“The Nnewi Digital Community believes that combining vocational expertise with digital capabilities represents the most sustainable pathway to accelerated wealth creation and economic resilience for young people.

“The Iykon Foundation’s initiative stands as a forward-thinking model for youth empowerment, and with strategic digital integration, it holds the potential to set a benchmark for similar interventions across Nigeria.”
