Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the Mother of the Nation, has honoured outstanding female graduates from UAE University, Zayed University, and the Higher Colleges of Technology, celebrating their academic distinction and their vital role in building the nation’s future.

ABU DHABI: Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the Mother of the Nation, has honoured a group of high-achieving female graduates from three of the UAE’s leading higher education institutions, recognising their academic distinction and the broader role Emirati women play in shaping the country’s future.

The ceremony celebrated outstanding graduates from the 45th cohort of UAE University, the 24th cohort of Zayed University, and the 35th cohort of the Higher Colleges of Technology, all of whom completed their studies with honours.

Sheikha Fatima said the growing number of female graduates from these institutions reflects the UAE leadership’s commitment to advancing education and improving its outcomes. She congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to continue their journey of excellence in service to the nation, in line with the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, which regards building and stabilising the family as a national duty.

Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, noted that Emirati women now make up around 66 per cent of Emirati students enrolled in higher education institutions across the country. He said this strong presence reflects the sustained support the UAE leadership has extended to women’s empowerment over many years.

The numbers paint a striking picture of where Emirati women are heading academically. Business administration and marketing lead the field at 20 per cent, followed by engineering at 14 per cent, health specialties at 13 per cent, and computer science and information technology at 12 per cent.

Their impact extends well beyond the classroom. Emirati women hold 91 per cent of citizen-occupied healthcare jobs in the private sector, make up 55 per cent of citizens in private sector leadership roles, and women aged 35 and under account for 71 per cent of Emirati women working in the private sector.
