Rebuild Arewa Initiative for Development(RAID),has condoled with the Sokoto State Government and families that lost loved ones in the Joint Task Force North West’s jet strike in Sokoto, which resulted in the loss of innocent lives and properties in Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa, Silame Local Government Area.

The group made this known in a statement signed by Mr Bitako Umar, Director of communications and Publicity RAID,on Saturday in Abuja.

Umar said RAID expressed sadness over the incident and offered condolences to the families of the victims and the Sokoto State Government.

“We at Rebuild Arewa Initiative for Development feel saddened with the mishap that occurred in the villages of Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa of Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State .

“Innocent citizens where killed by Nigerian Military in the cause of engaging the so-called terrorist group called Lakurawa.

“Primarily, we are hereby condoling the families of those killed and the Sokoto State Government for the unfortunate incident that subsequently led to lost of lives and properties of innocent citizens.”

He said the organisation noted that such episodes wsre becoming monotonous, citing a similar incident in Tudun Biri, Kaduna State, on Dec. 5, 2023, where military drones killed scores of innocent people.

He said RAID emphasised the need for accuracy and precision in military operations, warning that continuous misfiring could lead to a loss of credibility and professional reputation among the international community.

He added that the organisation acknowledged the military’s national duties but stressed the importance of protecting innocent lives .

“We acknowledge the fact that the military are on their national duties but accuracy and precision is adequately required in that exercise.

“Continuous misfiring by our soldiers thereby killing innocent people could lead to loose of credibility and professional reputations amongst comity of nations,”he said.
