QpiAI Launches Kaveri, India’s Most Powerful 64 Qubit Quantum Processor

QpiAI has launched the Kaveri, a 64-qubit superconducting quantum chip, India’s most powerful quantum processor. This was launched at the emerging science, technology and innovation conclave in Delhi. The event was inaugurated by Jitendra Singh, the union minister for science and technology, and presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The processor aims to strengthen India’s capabilities in quantum computing and deepen its leadership in technology innovation. It will be commercially available by the third quarter of 2026 and is expected to help government agencies, research institutions, and businesses tackle complex challenges in areas such as cryptography, optimisation, and machine learning.

QpiAI said the Kaveri 64 builds on the success of its earlier Indus 25 qubit quantum computer. The company described the launch as a key milestone in advancing home-grown deep technology and expanding India’s footprint in the global quantum sector.

Nagendra Nagaraja, founder, chairman and CEO of QpiAI, said, “Today’s launch of the Kaveri 64 Qubit quantum chip is not just an achievement for QpiAI, but a proud moment for India and its scientific community. Kaveri 64 demonstrates what is possible when world-class talent, ambitious vision, and indigenous innovation come together.”

He added that QpiAI’s focus is to “empower customers with quantum computing capabilities that will help further solutions across industries.”

At the same conclave, the PM addressed scientists, innovators, and industry leaders, announcing the RDI scheme to boost India’s private sector–driven research ecosystem. He said the government is focusing on the “ease of doing research” by reforming procurement policies and regulations to ensure faster movement of ideas from “lab to market.”

Highlighting India’s progress, he noted that the country’s R&D expenditure has doubled in the past decade and patent registrations have surged seventeenfold. He emphasised that India is now a “pioneer of transformation through technology,” with growing leadership in areas such as quantum computing, green hydrogen, and semiconductor manufacturing.

The PM also underscored India’s commitment to “ethical and human-centric AI” and announced that the country will host the Global AI Summit in February 2026.
