In Delta State, particularly in Asaba, the state capital, the #EndBadGovernance protest is currently underway.

Asaba city came to a standstill with shops, businesses, markets, and offices all closed.

The streets were empty, and even banks and other financial institutions in the city were not operational.

The demonstrators gathered at the well-known Interbau Roundabout before marching through Nnebisi Road towards the main market, Ogbeogonogo.

Initially, there were attempts by the police and soldiers to control the movement of the protesters at the Interbau Roundabout.

However, the protesters managed to make their way through, marching in an organized manner towards Nnebisi Road and the Ogbeogonogo market.

While none of the banks officially announced their closure, employees mentioned that they were advised not to show up for work on Thursday due to the ongoing protest.

One civil servant from Warri simply stated, “I won’t be going to work,” when questioned. A hotel staff member mentioned that they were urged to be cautious.

The Delta State House of Assembly Complex was also shut down.

A supervisor at the NNPC filling station indicated, “We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide further updates based on the progress of the protest.”

On the other hand, the secretariat of the Warri South Local Government Council, along with health centers and markets under the Council’s jurisdiction, operated normally on Thursday.

These operations may be linked to the preparations being made for the swearing-in of the Council’s supervisors.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Warri South Local Government Council chapter, Comrade Raymond Emiko, confirmed that regular activities were taking place.

Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, praised the protest for being peaceful.
