The winner would be #1 contender for the AEW Tag titles, but the big question heading into the Triple Threat match on the Feb. 11 Dynamite was about the unannounced third team who would battle The Young Bucks and The Rascalz for a shot at FTR.

Earlier in the day, Fightful reported that former Tag champs Private Party were still under contract with Tony Khan’s company and had been backstage at several recent shows. The site couldn’t find out if Zay Kassidy and Marq Quen were the Wild Card team in tonight’s match, but the timing of what they did find out seemed to indicate they might be.

And they were.

Private Party haven’t been seen in AEW in more than a year, since losing the belts to The Hurt Syndicate last January. Rumors emerged in June that their contracts were coming up, and that WWE would likely sign them. But today’s report indicated that somebody in the source-to-dirt sheet process had the end dates of their deals wrong for whatever reason, because Quen and Kassidy’s contracts apparently don’t even expire at the same time.

However long they’re signed for, Private Party will not be Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler’s next challengers. They gave a good showing along with Rascalz Myron Reed and Dezmond Xavier…

… but Matt and Nick Jackson were ready to renew their rivalry with the Top Guys. Hitting the Meltzer Driver on Reed let them do that, and the just-returned Zay & Quen and the newly-signed Rascalz exited as FTR wheeled Stokely Hathaway out for some trash talk that ended with Dax getting superkicked.

Ready for more Bucks/FTR? What’s next for The Rascalz and Private Party, and why was The Opps’ new leader HOOK scouting the match?
