In a press statement signed by the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the presidency described the incident as a national tragedy and announced a three-day national mourning beginning Thursday, August 7.

“President John Dramani Mahama has suspended all his scheduled activities and programmes for the rest of the week, following Wednesday’s national tragedy involving eight persons who died in a helicopter crash,” the statement read.

“There will be three days of national mourning starting tomorrow, Thursday, 7 August 2025. All flags are to fly at half-mast across the country until further notice,” the statement directed. This instruction was issued through the Chief of Staff as the country reels from the devastating loss.

The military helicopter crash, which occurred in the Adansi area of the Ashanti Region, has sent shockwaves across the country, with the government ordering all national flags to be flown at half-mast in honour of the departed. Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
