The Oti Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) has intercepted a vehicle carrying a locally manufactured single-barrel shotgun and 21 boxes of Lion AAA and BB ammunition concealed among building materials.

A police brief said the interception occurred following intelligence that a Kia Rhino truck, with registration number GS-4677-17, had loaded boxes of ammunition from Accra and was heading towards Kpandai in the Northern Region.

Upon receipt of the information on February 7, 2026, the PID Director, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Maxwell Osafo-Adamu, deployed a team of officers who laid an ambush.

On February 8, at about 1530 hours, the vehicle was intercepted and a thorough search conducted, leading to the discovery of one locally manufactured single-barrel shotgun and 525 pieces of Lion AAA and BB ammunition packed in 21 boxes.

The driver, Abubakari Salam Atta, and his mate, Kabuja Kwadwo Tademe, were arrested at the scene.

During interrogation, the suspects claimed ownership of the exhibits and have since been detained to assist with investigations.
