The Anambra State Police Command has reinforced its security partnership strategy by honouring outstanding police officers and key stakeholders at its 2025 Christmas Carol and End-of-Year Party.

The ceremony, which attracted senior officers, traditional institutions, lawmakers, youth groups, civil society actors and security partners, was used by the Command to review its operational year, recognise excellence in crime fighting and strengthen collaboration ahead of 2026.

Addressing attendees, the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the event was deliberately designed to reward dedication, professionalism, and strategic support that contributed to improved security outcomes in the state.

“This gathering is not just a celebration; it is an opportunity to appreciate officers who have demonstrated gallantry and stakeholders who have shown uncommon commitment to supporting policing and public safety in Anambra State,” Ikenga said.

He explained that recognising outstanding performance was part of the Command’s broader morale-boosting strategy to sustain operational effectiveness.

“Police work is demanding and often risky. When excellence is acknowledged, it strengthens morale and motivates officers to remain professional and resolute in the discharge of their duties,” he added.

At the event, the Commander of the Special Anti-Cult Squad, Enugu-Ukwu, CSP Ayuba Ahmadu, was announced as the Best Crime Fighter of the Year, in recognition of what the Command described as consistent operational success against cult-related violence and other crimes.

Ikenga noted that Ahmadu’s work had also attracted national attention, as the officer was recently honoured by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) for his role in safeguarding the student environment.

“CSP Ayuba Ahmadu has demonstrated exceptional commitment to dismantling cult networks and reducing violent crimes, particularly within student communities. His impact has been felt beyond Anambra State,” he said.

In the area of community-based security collaboration, the Commander of the Agụnachmba Vigilante Group, Hon. Ken Emeakayi, was recognised for his sustained partnership with the Police.

According to the Police spokesperson, “effective policing thrives on collaboration, and the Agụnachmba Vigilante Group has continued to support intelligence gathering and community policing initiatives across the state.”

The Anambra State House of Assembly Majority Leader, Hikenna Ofodeme, received an award as the Best Supportive Stakeholder, while Ambrose Onuzulike was also recognised for what the Command described as selfless service and consistent support to police operations.

Ikenga said the recognition of public office holders underscored the importance of political will and institutional backing in strengthening security architecture.

“When stakeholders understand the role of the Police and offer genuine support, it enhances response capacity and improves public confidence,” he stated.

In a further highlight of the ceremony, SP Ikenga himself was honoured by the Senate Arm of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) as the Best Student-Friendly Police Public Relations Officer.

Reacting to the award, Ikenga said it was a reflection of the Command’s commitment to transparency and constructive engagement with the public.

“Building trust, particularly among young people, remains critical. Open communication helps dismantle misinformation and encourages citizens to partner with the Police in crime prevention,” he said.

He reaffirmed that the Anambra State Police Command would continue to adopt intelligence-led policing, sustained community engagement and professionalism as its guiding principles in the coming year.

“Our commitment is to deepen stakeholder collaboration, enhance professionalism and ensure that Anambra State remains safe for residents, businesses and visitors,” Ikenga said.
