Police arrest woman for stealing baby at Mamprobi Polyclinic

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a woman in relation to the purported theft of a newborn at the Mamprobi Polyclinic in Accra, with the infant having been safely recovered.

The individual, reportedly disguised as a nurse, was recorded on the facility’s CCTV cameras carrying the baby and exiting the premises with what seemed to be a sack.

The video has since been widely shared on social media.

The event is reported to have taken place on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, shortly after the mother underwent a caesarean section. The baby was allegedly removed from the facility, causing alarm among staff and patients.

Authorities have confirmed that the suspect is in custody and is cooperating with the investigations. The successful recovery of the newborn has provided relief to the family and the community members.
