Plateau Massacre: ‘I watched the video, it’s horror’ – Shehu Sani laments

Former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani, expressed his distress over the recent appalling events in Plateau State on Christmas Eve. Reportedly, assailants carried out simultaneous attacks on over fifteen communities in the Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas, setting houses on fire, looting farm produce, destroying properties, and mercilessly killing residents.

The Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, revealed on Tuesday that the death toll from the Christmas Eve attacks has risen to over 115. In response to the harrowing events, Sani, in a tweet via his X account, shared his reaction to a video depicting the aftermath of the massacre. He described the scene of a baby crying on the back of its deceased mother as horrifying and denounced the incident as one of the most cruel and evil acts of inhumanity he has ever witnessed.

Expressing his dismay, Sani questioned whether society should unequivocally demand justice for such atrocities or continue the complicit practice of downplaying mass murder using religious or ethnic sentiments. He urged responsible citizens to be haunted by the horror of the situation.
